So I’ve got this friend, and basically he’s like the fuckin rain man. Knows cars inside out always points out the most detailed useless piece of knowledge about cars going I.e ‘look at that there, 2 litre turbo diesel, spider alloys 19′ 225 / 40 wheels’…
Now to me I couldn’t give a fuck but he did make a good point the other day which I though may be useful to somebody one day as the more I drive and go about my day I’m noticing more and more.
First he pointed out what looked like a normal Audi, and told me that’s the rozzers. I thought how the fuck does he know and he explained, not all but most undercover police cars start with the Reg ‘BX……’ now it’s not just police cars as I’ve seen ambulances and even disabled buses with the same reg, but below the reg it has got a post code ‘B9 2rd’ for instance. You’d have to be close to see it but with the reg, and postcode below on the plate most likely is the police. He’s explained wheel trims and two aerials are another indication which I’ve noticed them myself too…
After looking online I’ve seen forums mentioning undercovers with the reg starting as GX in Guildford which suggests maybe a lot of unmarked cars the second letter is an X, hence BX for Birmingham. So if your not from birmingham don’t go of this as gospel.
Whether this is a pointless post or it either stops you getting pulled or caught doing something you shouldn’t then it wasn’t a waste of time either way I couldn’t give a fuck but it’s worth a few of you knowing because I’m actually spotting more than I thought all with drivers with numbers on their shoulder…

This post has got me proper paranoid, nearly went into the car in front of my on the ring road when I saw a BX, and gawped!
